Agent Spotlight: Kevin Gold

See: Agent's do work and do have desks

The path to becoming a “Superstar Agent” is not etched in stone. Kevin Gold, an attorney at the law office of Rhoads & Sinon, LLP and NFLPA certified contract advisor, prepared himself to become a Sports Agent at a young age. He went to Law School (which has its advantages and disadvantages for future agents) with the sole purpose of becoming a Sports Agent. Personally, I recommend diversifying yourself to be accustomed with the entire Sports Business or take up an additional area of law that you are interested in, since you may need something to fall back on if being an agent does end up working well for you.

Looking back to a post on January 6th, titled: Want to be an NFL Agent?, it is clear that if Kevin Gold wanted to become a registered NFL agent for the first time today, he would have had to have gone to Law School or another type of Graduate School.

Anyway, let’s get back to the Kevin Gold spotlight. What makes him special enough to get a spotlight on this blog? Besides being a reader of this site along with many other registered agents, Kevin Gold is not your average NFL Contract Advisor. He does not go after the big names in the sport, and has instead decided to focus his entire Agency on long-snappers (hence the website: longsnap.com). By deciding to pick a particular niche among a powerful sport, Mr. Gold has been able to steer clear of a majority of the cut-throat competition that embodies the business of being a Sports Agent. Not only is the competition slim, but Kevin Gold is actually an expert in the field of long-snapping. His website, which is now added to the table of Sports Agency sites on the left side of this page, provides a great deal of information and allows anyone to sign up for a free News & Notes column (I used to write daily News & Notes columns as an intern at Career Sports & Entertainment).

Kevin Gold has found his niche, excels in representing long-snappers, and enjoys his line of work. This should be a lesson to all of us. While the potential of big time dollars is always in our mind, enjoying being a Sports Agent is more important than any dollar we will receive.

Interestingly enough, Kevin Gold usually wants to keep his clients outside of the limelight instead of in the papers. Most agents are constantly pushing for their clients to make the press. Kevin’s explanation is: “When you’re a long snapper, publicity is rarely a good thing.”
