Agent Spotlight: Tony Harvey

Former Mizzou assistant, Tony Harvey, has had a rough past. Once upon a time, Harvey was accused of giving money to various players and trying to get money from the University of Missouri that he did not deserve.

Missouri bought out the remainder of Harvey’s contract in exchange for a promise that Harvey would not try to sue the school. Whether or not the allegations against Tony Harvey were true, he has found a new career as a Sports Agent.

Tony Harvey now holds the position of Director of Basketball Operations for MAC Sports and Entertainment. The benefits of hiring Harvey comes with his ability to recognize talent on the court. Tony Harvey is quoted as saying that he was once the 2nd or 3rd best assistant in college basketball [Former Assistant Tony Harvey Speaks About Missouri Basketball And New Career]. The negative of hiring Harvey is that he his past may make certain players reluctant of joining with MAC. Look out to see how MAC Sports and Entertainment develops its basketball division.

Darren Heitner created Sports Agent Blog as a New Year's Resolution on December 31, 2005. Originally titled, "I Want To Be A Sports Agent," the website was founded with the intention of causing Heitner to learn more about the profession that he wanted to join, meet reputable individuals in the space and force himself to stay on top of the latest news and trends.

Heitner now runs Heitner Legal, P.L.L.C., which is a law firm with many practice areas, including sports law and contract law. Heitner has represented numerous athletes and sports agents as legal counsel. He has also served as an Adjunct Professor at Indiana University Bloomington from 2011-2014, where he created and taught a course titled, Sport Agency Management, which included subjects ranging from NCAA regulations to athlete agent certification and the rules governing the profession. Heitner serves as an Adjunct Professor at the University of Florida Levin College of Law, where he teaches a Sports Law class that includes case law surrounding athlete agents and the NCAA rules.
