Danny Ainge is rolling the dice hoping he can do what Miami did when they traded away their core for Shaq( how they got to keep wade in that deal amazes me still). But what Boston needs to realize is that the East is far better than it was when the Heat traded for Shaq several seasons ago. LeBron is the defending champ and needs just 1 good player to win a title, Detroit has its core intact- Rip,Billups, Sheed, Tay, Miami will be competing ( by the way, who will cover shaq?), and chicago has the most talented young core in the L. Not to mention the bottom feeders like New Jersey, Washington, and Orlando, which made the playoffs and will only get better. What is the starting 5 going to look like? Can Rajon Rando run the point and be counted on to be the starting PG? Boston gave up SO much, and if only one of those players develops for Minnesota, the deal will have been worth it for the T Wolves.

Yeah that's true. On paper, the Celts look good. But, as we all know, that doesn't mean much. The best comparison that you can make to this team is the Wiz. They also have a great three-player nucleus in Arenas/Jamison/Butler. I think the nucleus will be stronger in Boston, as long as they are able to stay healthy. Garnett/Allen/Pierce have a stronger scoring capability, more versatility, and much better defensive abilities. Even if the players outside of the big three for Boston stink, the Celts will still be competitive and compete for the Eastern Conference Championship.

I still think the Celts are the 4th/5th best team in the east. They'll be fun to watch, but they have no center, no bench, a very young PG. It's great they have Pierce, Allen, and Garnett, but Pierce and Allen are quite injury prone, and then what do they do?

I'm really happy for Garnett. Being a Minnesota fan I've had to watch as Garnett has flown under the radar in large part because he has played on bad teams. If this trade happens he can go to a team that should be a legit contender in the East and he doesn't have to put up 22-12 every night. One of his biggest strengths would be showcased as well and it is his ability to find the open jump shooter when he receives the ball in the post. The only problem before was that Hudson, Jaric and others were the guys shooting the ball. On a sports agent note could somebody tell me how the money will work with this deal? The salaries won't match up and from ESPN.com's article it was confusing regarding Garnett's trade kicker. If somebody has some insight that would be appreciated.

Trade hasn't happened yet. I'm still holding my breath. If/when it goes down, I'm calling a Boston sweep of the three major pro sports titles in '07 (Pats, Celtics, and Sox). Hey, I can dream, can't I?

Great move for everyone involved. Garnett gets a few more shots at winning a title, Minnesota gets cap relief and a rising star in Jefferson, Boston gets one of the best players in the game who is as hungry as ever to win a title plus a chance to get rid of some guys that weren't working out for them.
