There is no way La Liga is better than the EPL. The EPL is faster, and the English teams have been performing far better in the CL. Take a look at the previous 3 finals - Liverpool twice, Arsenal once vs. Barcelona once. Last years semifinals, Chelsea, Liverpool and the Mancs. Spanish teams consistently under perform in Europe, as does their national team.

When Madrid and Barcelona have won 48 titles and 37 runners up places you know you're historically lacking depth. Instead of a top 4 as in recent years in the EPL, La Liga has had a top 2 for the past 78 years.

Jason, thanks for your comment. Your link reinforces my opinion that the British government needs to completely revise the way in which it deals with sport.

Chris, thank you also for welcoming me to the team. Whilst there may be many positive elements related to placing restrictions on the number foreign players a team should be allowed to field, there is a conflict between those who hold opinions based on what they believe would benefit the sport, and those who prefer a stringent application of the law.

With England (the U.K.) being a member state of the European Union, English law is overshadowed by the primacy of EU law, so it is difficult to see how such measures could be introduced without falling short of the EU law requirement of free movement of workers between EU states.

Welcome to the team James.

I would say at the moment that Spain probably has the best quality league ahead of England.

In the A-League in Australia, there is a rule that each team can only have 3 foriegn players in their squad. Seems to work well.

It's an interesting predictament that the FA are in. I think it would be difficult to introduce in the current time, as the league is littered with foriegn players. Maybe introduce a certain number of UK players that must be fielded?
