Your June 1 e-mail came from someone who took the words verbatim from a message board post but then inserted (Rob Martin-IconSports) as the first agent and inserted (Boras) as the second agent. I was the author of the original message board post and never identified the agents involved. The person who sent you the e-mail identified the agents involved apparently because that person had heard the rumors that were rampant during the regionals in Stillwater that Icon was involved. I did further research and believe the current Icon management team had nothing to do with what the Barrata Partners did. I also believe that is why the person e-mailing you later stated everything was true except for the identification of the agent in question.

My message board post stated the amount as being $90,000 because that is what the sports agent who told me the story identified the amount as being. Basically everything the sports agent told me during the regional tournament was correct except for the dollar amount and he did identify Icon as being involved, however, he never mentioned the Barrata Partners. It was later reported the first agent was the Barrata Partners and I have doubts as to whether current Icon management including Rob Martin shares much of the blame for what happened to Andy Oliver. It is my understanding Rob Martin grew up in Oklahoma and is married to an OSU graduate. After reading your article it appears the Barrata's and Icon were no longer partners when the Barrata's did what they did regarding Andy Oliver.

I do understand why Oliver's lawyer named Icon as a defendant because Icon and the Barrata's were apparently partners when Oliver started using them as his advisors.

Things are looking bad for the Barrata bros...

http://www.chroniclet.com/2008/07/13/pitcher-in-a-pinch-former-vermilion-star-sues-over-suspension_122/

"Johnson provided The Chronicle a letter dated June 27 from J. Scott Williams, Oklahoma State’s associate athletic director for compliance, to John Shukie, NCAA’s assistant director of agent, gambling and amateurism activities.

In the letter, Williams said that the school found only two violations of an NCAA bylaw: that Tim Baratta had a telephone conversation with the Minnesota Twins in 2006 after Oliver was drafted before his freshman year at Oklahoma State, and that Baratta was present during the in-home visit made by Twins area scout Billy Corrigan during a contract negotiation."

Also looks like the Barrata's falsified some evidence according to the story, nothing like trying to back date a letter or agreement... These guys appear to be real dirt bags.

Where is that Barrata defender that was on here when you detailed the story when it broke? Come on Mike, where are you now that the facts have started to come out? Looks like your buddies' actions cost a kid his eligibility.
