Phillies Retain Moyer, Sign Park

Phillies LogoPhillies pitcher Jamie Moyer, 46, has been awarded a 2-year, $13-million contract after his stellar performance in the 2008 season. Moyer will receive a base salary of $6.5-million in each of the 2 years with an additional $1.25 million per season depending upon performance. In 2010, Moyer could earn $250,000 each for 23 starts and 150 innings pitched; $500,000 each for 160, 170, 180 and 190 innings pitched as well as 25, 27, 29 and 31 starts (confusing, I know). Last season, Moyer went 16-7 with a 3.71 ERA in 33 starts.

Pitcher Chan Ho Park has a preliminary agreement with the Phillies for 1-year, $2.5-million. Last season for the Dodgers, he went 4-4 with a 3.40 ERA in 54 appearances. No word yet on if he will be competing for a starting job.
