Red Sox and Youkilis Agree to Deal

The Boston Red Sox and Kevin Youkilis have agreed to a 4-year deal worth more than $40 million with an optional fifth year, on Thursday. By agreeing to this deal, the Red Sox avoided an arbitration hearing for Youkilis.

In 2008, Youkilis hit .312 with 29 homeruns and 115 RBIs. Youkilis also won the Hank Aaron Award as the AL’s top offensive player; he finished third in All-Star voting.
