Markakis and Orioles agree to extension

The Baltimore Orioles and 25-year old outfielder Nick Markakis have agreed to terms on a 6 year, $66 million extension. Markakis hit .306 last season, which lead the team.

This deal is the second largest in Baltimore Orioles history behind Miguel Tejada’s $72 million contract in 2003. Markakis had his best season in 2007, when he batted .300 with 23 homers and 112 RBIs in 161 games.

Markakis also hit three home runs in one game in August of 2006.
