I heard a rumor yesterday that Andre Buck, upset about being hidden in the shadow of Leon Rose, had decided to leave Creative Artists Agency (CAA). At first, I had trouble confirming the rumor, but then another source told me it was in fact true, and that Buck has left CAA to join another company: Artizen Management Group.
When I pondered whether CAA is unstoppable, I mentioned that Andre Buck is an up-and-coming agent, and serves as the primary agent for guys like Jason Thompson, Aaron Brooks, and Renaldo Balkman. His players love him. The agent who was at one time relegated to repping overseas players has now experienced serving as the primary agent for NBA talent, and seems to want to expand from being a mere underling.
What will Buck’s position be at Artizen Management Group? The company is run by Derrick W. Brooks, a big player in Philadelphia with a bunch of experience in the entertainment and sports world. The company does not list any clients on its website, and will certainly have a nice infusion of new talent to represent with the addition of Buck and his roster.
Will Artizen now make plays at some baseball and football agents/agencies?
