My take
Bowers is the all-around package at defensive end. He has the athleticism to get around the edge and the strength to be stout against the run on the next level. He often came inside to a three technique in pass situations and gave slower offensive guards fits. His uses his hands extraordinarily well and has great tenacity off the edge. He also recognizes run & screens with great quickness, especially for a man weighing 280 pounds. With his big body he can hold up as a 3-4 end, although his best fit would be in the 4-3 defense. The main concerns with Da’Quan is the huge spike in production during his junior season. His first two years at Clemson he had a total of four sacks. I wouldn’t buy into this assessment very much, sacks aren’t everything. His explosiveness is being questioned by many scouts but considering his size, I don’t question this whatsoever. His pro day in March will be huge for his draft stock, bank on Bowers going within the first three picks.
