I need to start looking at a few other opportunities in the bowling world as well.” Robert still hasn’t determined if he will bowl the full tour season next year. “I’m going to take a wait and see attitude. A lot will depend on the schedule which is due out in a few weeks.” The move will commence sometime in July after Smith competes in the GEICO PBA Team Shootout hosted by Six Flags Great Adventure. Smith will be competing on the 900 Global team along with Hall of Famers Walter Ray Williams Jr. and Brian Voss. Also, on the 900 Global team is past PBA Tournament of Champions winners Michael Haugen Jr. and Steve Jaros.

Robert will be partnering with Mr. Perry Ko, who owns Contact Pro Shop in Hong Kong. Bruce Falcon of Dynasty Athlete Representation (Smith’s agent) is very excited for the opportunity presented to Robert. “We have gone to Hong Kong the past 2 years for clinics with Mr. Ko. This just seemed like the next logical step. The bowlers go crazy for Robert as well as all the PBA professionals that go overseas. This will be a great experience.” The initial deal is done for 2 years with a 1 year option after that. Falcon added, “We will see what happens.” Terms of the contract were not disclosed.

The victor was Mike DeVaney, who notched his second PBA Tour title after beating Belmonte 189-170. Belmonte has received a lot of media attention lately, and just unveiled a brand new website: http://www.JasonBelmonte.com. DeVaney, on the other hand, has been struggling just to make it. His story says a lot about his character and his drive to be the best on the PBA Tour. As reported by PBA.com,

“I came in (to the PBA World Series of Bowling) with all the pressure in the world,” DeVaney confessed after his win. “I’m looking at going back home and living on the streets if I don’t make any money here.

“Bowling for a living is a difficult thing to do. To be honest, I lived in my car for two weeks before the World Series started to save enough money to be able to afford to get here,” he added. “My wife and two-year-old son stayed with her parents in a retirement community where only one guest is allowed, so I lived in my truck so we could afford to get here.

“I never had much money as a kid, and what money I have made, I’ve spent stupidly. Sometimes you have to make a lot of mistakes in your life before you wake up. This is a real blessing for me. I’m extremely fortunate to win this tournament and get back on my feet.”

And we are extremely fortunate to have DeVaney as a client. We are so proud of Mike and wish him continued success. If you or your company wants to be a part of DeVaney’s success story, email info@dynastyreps.com.

Belmonte has already garnered plenty of media inquiries since coming across the pond to participate on the Lumber Liquidators PBA tour. “Belmo” has appeared on the Today Show, Good Morning America, and Fox and Friends in the recent weeks, as well as a front page story in the Wall Street Journal. Jason has also been recognized on ESPN’s Around the Horn. He recently won his first PBA title by beating out Michael Fagan at the Bowling Foundation Long Island Classic, Belmonte’s TV finals debut.

In ’00 Belmonte became the first Junior Australian to shoot 300 overseas and also won five Gold medals at the Junior National Championships. In ’01 he was the Australia Day Orange Junior Sportsperson of the year, which he followed up the next year by winning the Senior Award, as well as the Orange Sportsperson of the Year (he repeated in ’03 also). The years ’02 and ’04 were filled with medals Belmonte won at the Commonwealth Championships in Scotland, WTBA World Youth Championships in Thailand, Asian Youth FIQ in Hong Kong, World Youth FIQ titles in Guam, and the World Tenpin Masters.

2005 is when Belmonte began to compete around the world with victories and top five finishes in Kuwait, Asia, and Europe, and 3 major wins and a top five finish in all but one event at home in Australia.

As of 2008, Belmonte has bowled 33 perfect 300 games and has appeared three times on the Matchroom World Masters (3rd in ’05, 5th in ’06, and 1st in ’07).

Jason Belmonte and Dynasty are eager to build upon 2009′s first PBA title and are looking forward to many more to come.

Fred Schreyer, CEO of the Professional Bowlers Association, recently gave a brief State of the PBA. Important extractions:

TV ratings are up 1% in total households and 4% in total viewers – and more importantly have been markedly increasing since the start of the second half of the season. Schreyer expects that the PBA will end the season with ratings up on a year-to-year basis by at least 5%.

The PBA will be aired on Wednesday nights at 9:00 p.m. EST beginning on April 22 and continuing for five consecutive weeks and will be sponsored by Amp Energy.

The players enjoy the new Gemini jerseys, the PBA is getting a lot of publicity from the addition of Jason Belmonte and the usage of plastic balls, and sponsorships are increasing in a struggling economy.

It does not seem like a bad time to represent professional bowlers.

Fountain Valley, Calif. [February 8, 2009] A week-long break on the Lumber Liquidators Professional Bowlers Association Tour was a welcome relief for PBA Hall of Famer, and Dynasty Athlete Representation client Norm Duke.

Coming off a disappointing 39th place-finish in the H & R Block Tournament of Champions two weeks ago, a rested Duke defeated fellow Dynasty client Michael Fagan 278-168 in the championship match to win the Denny’s Dick Weber Open Sunday at Fountain Bowl.

“That week off was everything,” said Duke, who was inducted into the PBA Hall of Fame the same week as the Tournament of Champions. “I needed it mentally-if there wasn’t this break on Tour I would have probably taken a week off anyway.”

Duke’s win was the 32nd of his career, tying him for fifth all-time with fellow Hall of Famer Parker Bohn III. In addition to coming into the tournament with renewed focus, the Clermont, Fla., resident admitted to a little added inspiration from the late Dick Weber.

“When I started the practice session I noticed Dick’s photo on a banner and I thought if I’m going to win this tournament I better bowl like Dick Weber,” said the 44-year-old Duke. “It means a lot.”

For Duke it was his third victory of the season, having won the PBA World Championship to start the season. Norm Duke is the first player to win three consecutive majors. He also won the Don and Paula Carter Mixed Doubles with Liz Johnson in January.

Duke, who won a $35,000 first prize, held off the hard-charging Fagan who won three consecutive matches from his No. 5 qualifying position to get to the championship match.

The 28-year-old Fagan opened the stepladder by defeating reigning PBA Player of the Year and 10-time titlist, Chris Barnes of Double Oak, Texas, 204-183, and then beat four-time Tour titlist Ryan Shafer of Horseheads, N.Y., 256-223, and Hall of Famer and 34-time titlist Pete Weber of St. Ann, Mo., 243-201.

“I really didn’t have high expectations and I knew I was going to have my work cut out for me,” said Fagan, who was trying for his first individual PBA Tour title. “I felt good going into the last match but the lanes were breaking down pretty quickly. I was just hoping I could get one more good game out of it.

“But when Norm’s on his game there’s really not much you can do.”

After a disappointing finish in the recent Professional Bowlers Association H&R Block Tournament of Champions, where he was trying for his fourth consecutive “major” title, Norm Duke regained his focus to take top qualifier honors for Sunday’s ESPN-televised stepladder finals of the Denny’s Dick Weber Open at Fountain Bowl.

Duke of Clermont, Fla., a 31-time PBA Tour titlist who was inducted into the PBA Hall of Fame Jan. 24 in Las Vegas, posted a 17-7 overall match play record and was 7-1 after Friday’s final match play round. His 9,371 39-game pinfall total put him 52 pins ahead of fellow Hall of Famer Pete Weber of St. Ann, Mo., who qualified second for the TV finals.

“What else can I say but to stay ahead of Pete Weber in a tournament named after Dick Weber is unbelievable,” Duke said. “All I heard was footsteps. It’s going to be a tough one Sunday.”

Weber, who is tied for third on the all-time PBA Tour title list with Mark Roth with 34 wins, makes his first television appearance of the 2008-09 Lumber Liquidators PBA Tour season and will be looking for his first win.

“To win this tournament would be like winning a major-it would obviously mean a lot,” Weber said. “But I have to say I’ve had good luck winning tournaments named after professional bowlers. I won one named after Parker Bohn III, Johnny Petraglia and I think there might have been a Don Carter somewhere in there.”

Qualifying in the third spot was four-time Lumber Liquidators PBA Tour titlist Ryan Shafer of Horseheads, N.Y., followed by the reigning PBA Bowler of the Year and 10-time Tour winner Chris Barnes of Double Oak, Texas in fourth. Both will be looking for their first win of the season.

In a battle that went down to the final frame of the position round match, Michael Fagan of Patchogue, N.Y., defeated Tony Reyes of San Bruno, Calif., 224-216 to earn the fifth and final stepladder spot. Fagan will be looking to win his second career Lumber Liquidators PBA Tour title.

The tournament featured the “traditional” qualifying and match play format used in PBA’s early years and included three rounds of qualifying after which the top 24 advanced to 24 games of round robin match play to determine the five players for the stepladder finals.

Sunday’s finals will get underway at 1 p.m. Eastern (10 a.m. Pacific). The winner earns $35,000 plus a one-year exemption on the Lumber Liquidators PBA Tour.

CAN’T STOP DYNASTY’S BOWLERS

Gainesville, FL – [January 21, 2009] Dynasty clients made another appearance on the ESPN televised PBA schedule this season. During the 1st 10 televised events on the Lumber Liquidators PBA Tour, Dynasty has had players on 9 of these shows. Two shows had 2 players, another had 3. Dynasty players have 3 wins in 9 official PBA tour events during the 1st half of the season.

Most recently, the Bayer Earl Anthony Medford Classic was televised on ESPN. Dynasty clients Tommy Jones and Patrick Allen were showcased in the final rounds. Tommy Jones got a runner-up finish and Patrick Allen got a 4th place finish. That makes 10 ESPN televised events for the Lumber Liquidators PBA Tour so far this season, 9 of which have featured Dynasty players.

In the tournament quarterfinals, Wes Malott of Pflugerville, Texas threw strikes in six of his first seven frames to end Patrick Allen’s hopes for back-to-back titles. Allen, from Wesley Chapel, Fla., fought back and earned $5,500 for his fourth place finish.

Tommy Jones of Simpsonville, S.C. was the top qualifier for the event, but he eventually fell to Malott in the finals. Malott, the No. 3 qualifier, won three straight matches on his way to the $25,000 first prize. Two open frames by Jones to start the championship match helped Malott take a 33-pin lead after three frames and five strikes in a row to finish the game clinched the victory. The win gave Malott a 10-point lead over Norm Duke – another Dynasty client – in the Player of the Year points race. Jones, who made his first TV appearance since winning the Geico Classic in West Babylon, N.Y., last March, made a valiant bid to get back into the match, but he couldn’t put together a sustained string of strikes to cut into Malott’s lead. Jones earned $13,000 as runner-up.

The next stop on the Lumber Liquidators PBA Tour will be the H&R Block PBA Tournament of Champions which gets underway Wednesday at Red Rock Resort and Lanes in Las Vegas. Norm Duke of Clermont, Fla., will headline an elite field of 60 PBA champions in his quest for an unprecedented fourth consecutive PBA “major” title. Look for several other Dynasty clients to be featured in this event in addition to Norm Duke.

Sundays are all about football, but can you really watch the same sport for nine consecutive hours? Here is another option for next Sunday. Skip the first half of the early games and catch three of Dynasty‘s clients in the televised finals of the Ultimate Scoring Championship PBA Tournament. Robert Smith, Mike Wolfe, and Mike Scroggins make up three of the four bowlers in the finals and all three are part of the Dynasty family.

In the semi-finals, it will be Dynasty against Dynasty on one end, with Smith up against Scroggins. The other match-up will be Wolfe against Bill O’Neill

This Sunday, November 16, the final event will take place, but next Sunday, November 23 at 1:00 p.m. EST, ESPN will show a taped version of the show.
