Sunday, 6 p.m. in (hopefully) sunny South Florida, the Indianapolis Colts will take on the New Orleans Saints in Super Bowl XLIV. Many people are expecting a high scoring shootout, but what do you think? The person who guesses the closest total points scored in the game will win a free sweatshirt courtesy of Buffalo Wild Wings. Introduction To Daily Tailgate + BCS Picks

Daily Tailgate is a brand new concept for sports fans, where they can get a simple email (in the morning) every day, that is customizable to give you daily news about your favorite teams, but will also give you general sports information if you choose to ignore the customization options. My favorite part of the daily email is the section that gives me ideas on TV programming to watch throughout the day and night. For instance, I woke up today and found out that the Yankees are playing at 7:30 p.m. tonight on Fox. I ventured over to my DirecTV box and set a reminder. Easy as pie.

Another cool feature that Daily Tailgate is currently running is a $100,000 BCS Challenge. If you are able to correctly pick the college football teams that will end up in the top 15 of the final BCS standings and also place them in the proper order of ranking, you will win $100,000 courtesy of the website and its happy insurance backers.

I am close with a few of the gentlemen behind the Daily Tailgate concept, and decided I would lend them my final 15 picks with short 1-liners following each selection. The result is below, but may also be seen on today’s DT Current Issue.

12th Annual Entertainment Law Initiative Writing Competition

The ELI Essay Competition invites law students focusing on the entertainment practice to write a 3,000-word paper on a compelling legal topic facing the music industry today. The contest culminates with the winning student authors presenting their essays at the prestigious ELI luncheon on January 29, 2010. Did you miss the amazing Beijing Olympics Opening Ceremonies? How about each leg of Michael Phelps’ race to eight gold medals? You no longer need to guilt-trip your girlfriend about forcing you to go out to dinner during one of these monumental events. NBC is offering a DVD of the Olympics Opening Ceremonies and it is available for purchase on their website www.nbcdvd.com. Other DVDs available include “2008 Beijing General Highlight DVD” and “Michael Phelps: Greatest Olympic Champion…The Inside Story”.

But before you pay for the DVDs, you might as well try to win them for free. NBC and SportsAgentBlog.com have teamed up to introduce a contest for all of our readers. All you have to do is leave a comment on this post with an idea for a new sport you would like to see in the Olympics (either already existing or completely fabricated). Make sure to enter your correct email address on the comment form, so that when we select the winners, which will be based on how persuasive you are in your reasoning for why the sport should be included and/or creativity, we can contact you to get your mailing address. We will be giving out DVDs to two lucky winners.
